How to Wear Head to Toe Knitwear

In typical Melbourne fashion, we got a brief, very moderately-temperatured summer and now winter is practically with us already. It's no secret that I'm a huge lover of winter fashion. And with last year's winter spent mostly locked up in our houses indoors, I'm very excited to experiment with winter fashion this year and again invest in some staple pieces for my winter wardrobe.

Anna Quan Knitwear

After perusing The Undone for more hours than I care to admit, I just couldn't go past this beautiful head to toe knitwear set by Anna Quan. The Bebe Top is the perfect staple short sleeve knit – a style of clothing I own a few of now and love to wear, especially to the office. Featuring a thick rib and crew neckline, it's such an easy top to style with jeans, a silk skirt, or, as I have, with a knitted skirt. At first I was unsure about the Hettie Skirt; on the model it looked as though it wouldn't suit a more curvy body shape. But the flared silhouette and high-rise waist meant that it was the perfect fit and actually super flattering. I was immediately drawn to the adjustable buttoned thigh slit, which makes the piece much more versatile. I didn't have anything like it in my wardrobe and thought it would be the perfect

alternative to wearing tailored trousers day in, day out. Both pieces are crafted from an ultra-soft ribbed cotton, so there's no itchiness – which is a problem I find with a lot of knitwear!

This isn't the first time I've fallen in love with one of Anna Quan's designs. Designer and founder of the brand, Anna Hoang, is known for her less is more, minimalist approach. Her label consists of timeless pieces in classic colour ways, making it a minimalist's dream. She also specialises in tailoring and is known for her attention to detail. So, I think a classic black longline blazer is next on my wishlist from the brand for sure!

Pulling off Head to Toe Knitwear

When it comes to styling a head to toe knitwear look, I find it easiest when the materialisation is matching, like this Anna Quan top and skirt. However, pairing different materials can often make an outfit more interesting. This skirt would pair well with my cream long-sleeve knit top from Kookai or even the short-sleeve polo version on those slightly warmer days.

Knitted trousers, on the other hand, I find much harder to style as they can end up looking very very similar to

track pants. When it comes to knitted pants the key to pulling them off really is in how you style them. Opt for a knitted top with details to it – a half zipper at the front like this knit from Viktoria & Woods and this one from Witchery, or a collared knit with buttons like this one from Oroton and this one from Christopher Esber. I also find that if you wear more fitted knitwear, especially on the top half, it looks a little more elevated, you can also add a coat or trench coat to tie the whole look together. Here are a few outfit ideas I'm loving for this season:

Knitted joggers with a detailed knit

Wide leg knitted trousers with a detailed top

I'd love to know how you like to style your knitwear looks. Leave me a comment below!
