How To Style A Polo Knit Top

The Perfect Transseasonal Piece

Polo knit tops have been on my agenda for quite a few months now but being more of a trend piece, I wasn't sure this would be a purchase for me. But the more I scrolled Instagram, Vogue or even my favourite fashion retailers – there it was. From classic options of high-end retailers like Manning Cartell, or Proenza Schouler to the more daring designs of Viktoria & Woods, it seemed my purchase was inevitable. And finally, I convinced myself that this in fact was a wardrobe staple; something I could layer for the warmer and cooler months alike; and something that I would regret not purchasing.

The polo knit is a fitted collared top, buttoned up to the neck (although usually worn more open) and is often made from a finely ribbed knit material. I opted for a simple white one from Kookai. Easy to style with jeans, skirts or even tailored trousers, I love wearing this style of top tucked in with something not so skin tight on the bottom for a more styled look. Here, I've paired it with my favourite Nobody Denim Piper Skirt, but I also wear it with my Abrand Jeans (blue and black). With Melbourne's sporadic winter weather approaching, this is the perfect transseasonal piece to layer with; perfect under a winter coat, long-line denim jacket or even a trench.

Have you invested in this trend piece?
